AtV%k
amac
Earth & Environmental
and H8+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 100 feet right of centerline; between stations J5+00 (+/-)
and J14+00 (+/-), approximately 100 feet left of centerline to 25 feet right of centerline; and
between stations J28+00 (+/-) and J30+00 (+/-), approximately 100 to 150 feet right of
centerline. Slope contouring was performed using various CAT dozers. Material generated as
the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
D) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near stations A28+00 (+/-) to A36+00
E) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A CAT 385 excavator, a CAT 375 excavator, and a John Deere 850 excavator were used to
excavate structural fill material from the following areas: between stations A20+00 (+/-) and
A23+00 (+/-), approximately 10 to 100 feet left of centerline; between stations H2+00 (+/-)
and H7+00 (+/-), approximately 50 feet left of centerline to 100 feet right of centerline;
between stations; and between stations J28+00 (+/-) and J30+00 (+/-), approximately 75 to 100
feet right of centerline. The structural fill material was loaded into CAT 777 haul trucks and
hauled to fill areas.
Prior to structural fill placement existing fill areas were ripped and frost was allowed to thaw
or was removed. Existing fill temperature were monitored and found to be above 32°F before
fill placement. An AMEC representative monitored ambient temperatures on an hourly basis
during fill placement. Fill temperatures were monitored during ambient temperatures below
32°F and averaged 33°F to 39°F.
Structural fill was placed in the between stations J3+00 (+/-) and J10+00 (+/-), approximately 0
to 150 feet right of centerline. Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24" lifts using various CAT
dozers. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and
compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill
surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is applicable). Ambient and fill
temperatures were monitored and recorded during fill placement.
Blast pattern drilling was performed between stations A17+00 (+/-) and A20+00 (+/-),
approximately 10 to 50 feet left of centerline and between stations H2+00 (+/-) and H3+00
(+/-), approximately 80 to 100 feet right of centerline. Blasting was performed on Monday
(3/8/2010), Tuesday (3/9/2010), and Wednesday (3/10/2010). No blasting was performed
Thursday (3/11/2010), Friday (3/12/2010), and Saturday (3/13/2010).
F) Material Processing
1) East Cresson Clay Borrow Area
Processing of Soil Liner Fill material continued this week. A CAT D-8 dozer, a CAT 320
excavator, a CAT 966 front-end loader, and tandem-axel haul trucks were used to excavate, haul,
and process the material.
VLF Weekly Report WE 03.13.10.D.doc
