Class Ill Inventory Colowyo's Collom Mine Project 221 <br />• <br />The stream valley is steep sided, and the drainage channel is along the base of the slope on the east <br />side (Figure 6.133). On -site sediment consists ofoutwash comprised of sandy clay with gravel and <br />eroding bedrock detritus. The vegetation community consists of dense grasses along the floor of the <br />drainage. Sagebrush, rabbitbrush, low bunchgmsses, and forbs occur on the slopes rising from the <br />drainage valley. impacts to the site include dismantling, structural deterioration, erosion, and <br />livestock trampling. <br />The homestead consists of one standing building (Feature 1), two depressions (Features 2 and 3), one <br />rock foundation (Feature 4), the remains of two wagons, one sled, one hay rack, and a trash <br />concentration. A dried up water source is also present in the northern end of the site. <br />Feature I is the only extant building and is located in the east- central part of the site. It consists of <br />a 15 x 16 -ft cabin with a single framed doorway (west side) and a shed roof (Figure 6.134). The <br />walls are made of 6 -inch diameter (average size) pine logs with saddle notched corners.
