216 Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project
,1
N.RHP Eligibility Recommendation and Project Effect Site 5MF6111 is recommended as not
eligible for listing on the NRHP when evaluated under Criterion D. The site is a surface
manifestation that lacks dateable cultural features and temporally diagnostic artifacts. The recorded
artifact assemblage is comprised of a limited density and diversity of cultural material. The integrity
of deposits has been impacted by erosion. The sediment context suggests that there is little or no
potential for the site to contain intact significant subsurface cultural deposits. Recordation has
exhausted the research potential of the site.
The site is located within the mine permit boundary. However, because the site is recommended as
not eligible for the NRHP, the current project will have no effect. Cultural resource clearance is
recommended, with no further work.
6.1.54 Site 5MF6112 (RR -2)
Site Tyne Historic cairn
Legal Location Section 28, T4N, R94W
Landowner Private
Site Dimensio 1 x 1 m
Site Description Site 5MF6112 is a historic cairn located on the east - facing slope of a
northeast - trending ridge at 7,033 ft (2,144 m) (Figure 6.129). The cairn is situated west of Morgan
Gulch and south of Red Littleton Canyon (Figure 6.130). An abandoned hay meadow is located
immediately north and west of the site. On -site sediment consists of residual sandy clay with gravel
and eroding bedrock detritus. The dense vegetation community consists of sagebrush, rabbitbrush,
low bunchgrasses, and various forbs. Impacts to the site include neglect, erosion, and livestock
trampling.
The isolated cairn (Feature 1) is a partially collapsed cairn comprised of 14 locally available tabular
sandstone rocks within a 1 x 1 -m area (Figure 6.131). On average, the rocks measure 30 x 20 x
47599 TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
