Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project 139 <br />ofabroad northeast- trending ridgeline and east of Little Collom Gulch (Figure 6.75). Axial Basin <br />is located nearby to the north. The sediment context consists of intermixed silty aeolian sand and <br />colluvium with eroding sandstone gravel and bedrock detritus. The vegetation community consists <br />ofjuniper trees, sagebrush, low grasses, various £orbs, and prickly pear cactus. Impacts to the site <br />include erosion and grazing. <br />The open camp consists ofone heat - altered rock concentration (Feature 1), one projectile point, three <br />biface fragments, one flake tool, one core, three flakes, and eight groundstone artifacts. Feature t <br />is located in the southern part of the site and consists of approximately 30 heat - altered sandstone <br />rocks in a 4.0 x 1.0 -m area. The rocks ranged in size from 1.8 x 17.0 x 0.7 cm to 9.4 x 9.3 x 4.0 cm. <br />No evidence of charcoal - stained sediment was identified. <br />The projectile point is a nearly complete small corner - notched arrow point missing the distal tip and <br />the tip of one ear (Figure 6.76).
