118 Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project
•
The site is located within the mine permit boundary. However, because the site is recommended as
not eligible for listing on the NRHP, the current project will have no effect. Cultural resource
clearance is recommended, with no further work stipulated.
6.1.27 Site 5MF6085 (A -30)
Site Type Lithic scatter
Legal Locatio Section 20, T4N, R93W
Landowner Private
Site Dimensions 28 x 20 m
Site Description Site 5MF6085 is a diffuse Lithic scatter located on an isolated low rise on a
northeast - trending ridge at an elevation of 7,060 ft (2,152 m) (Figure 6.60). The ridgeline is bounded
on the east by the East Fork of Jubb Creek and to the west by an unnamed north - trending incised
drainage (Figure 6.61). The general region is characterized by northeast - trending ridges separated
by gulches. Axial Basin lies nearby to the north. The sediment consists of clay silt residuum with
eroding sandstone detritus. The vegetation community consists of sparse sagebrush, short grasses,
and various low forbs. Juniper covers the lower slopes of the ridgeline to the east along the drainage
and thins out to the north. The site has been impacted by erosion.
The Lithic scatter consists of one biface fragment, one flake tool, one core, and nine flakes. The
biface fragment is the distal rip of a final biface made of opaque chert. It measures 2AP x 2.OP x
0.6 cm. The flake tool is a retouched opaque chert flake that measures 6.7 x 3.7 x 2.2 em and
exhibits steep retouch on the distal margin and one lateral margin. The distal end appears to exhibit
heavy use wear. The opaque chert core measures 4.7 x 4.2 x 3.2 cm and retains approximately 30%
cortex. Flakes were removed unidirectionally. The debitage assemblage consists of nine tertiary
flakes comprised of four semitranslucent chert flakes, three opaque chert flakes, and two quartzite
flakes.
47599
TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
