Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project 115
NRHP Eligibility Recommendation and Project Effect Site 5MF6083 is recommended as not
eligible for listing on the NRHP when evaluated under Criterion D. The site consists of a diffuse
artifact scatter that is limited density and diversity. No dateable cultural features are present, and the
residual sediment has no potential to contain intact significant subsurface cultural deposits.
Recordation has exhausted the research potential of the site.
The site is located within the mine permit boundary. However, because the site is recommended as
not eligible for listing on the NRHP, the current project will have no effect. Cultural resource
clearance is recommended, with no further work stipulated.
6.1.26 Site 5MF6084 (A -32)
Site Typ e : Prehistoric lithic scatter
Legal Locatio Section 20, T4N, R93W
Landowner Private
Site Dimensions 27 x 20 in
Site Description Site 5MF6084 is a small prehistoric lithic scatter located at 7,060 ft (2,152 m).
It is situated on the upper margin of a northeast - trending ridge overlooking Jubb Creek to the east
(Figure 6.58). The confluence of the East and West Forks of Jubb Creek is located approximately
0.5 mi (0.8 km;) to the south (Figure 6.59). On -site sediment consists of residual sandy clay with a
large volume of gravel and eroding bedrock detritus. Exposures of bedrock occur throughout the
general area and in parts ofthe site proper. The vegetation community consists of scattered junipers,
sagebrush, low grasses, and few forbs. Impacts to the site include vehicle traffic along a two -track
road that passes through the eastern part of the site, erosion, and livestock trampling.
The lithic scatter consists of one flake tool and 20 flakes. The flake tool is a complete opaque chert
tertiary flake that measures 3.6 x 2.0 x 0.6 cm. The distal end has been fashioned into an apparent
graver /awl and exhibits light usewear. The debitage assemblage consists of 20 flakes, 19 of which
47599 TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
