•
. Figure 6.44 Overview of Site 5MF6078, Looking East (Taken by Dave Byers, 8/13105).
Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project 97
Testine Results Two shovel tests were excavated at the site with negative results. The sediment
matrix noted in Shovel Tests I and 2 consisted of silty sand with gravel and bedrock detritus to a
depth of 7 and 34 cm below ground surface, respectively. Decomposing bedrock was encountered
below the surface veneer.
NRHP Fliyibility Recommendation and Project Effect Site 5MF6078 is recommended as not
eligible for listing on the NRHP when evaluated under Criterion D. The site is a sparse surface
manifestation with no dateable cultural features or temporally diagnostic arti facts. The site consists
of a sparse artifact assemblage that is limited in density and diversity and will contribute no
significant data for augmenting the understanding of lithic toolstone procurement or reduction
strategies, or settlement and subsistence strategies. Test excavations strongly suggest that the site
has no potential to contain intact significant subsurface cultural deposits. Recordation has exhausted
the research potential of the site.
•
47599
TRC Mariah Associates Inc.
