Many of the products require the use of crushers, grinders and screening plants to
facilitate the processing of materials into a usable product. Currently, we are recycling
used asphalt and concrete products at the site. These products are used for the
production of new asphalt and for use as base material for road construction
products. Future plans may include recycling asphalt shingles, wood waste products
or any materials that may be useful in the construction or landscape materials
industry. Wood recycling could include the use of a grinder or shredder, to size the
material, and a coloring machine to turn the material into a sellable product in the
landscape market.
- Landscape Material Sales: Our current operation includes the processing of various
types of soil and soil mixtures that are sold through our landscape materials
operations. Some of these materials may require washing to make them suitable for
the landscape market. This process includes the use of shredders and screens to size
and mix the materials to meet desired specifications. These operations will continue
along with the stockpiling and sales of other landscape products.
- Other Operations: Along with the current uses, future uses for the site may include
the following items:
Cement storage facility. Products used to produce concrete would be stored and
produced on-site to insure a consistent supply of cement for our production
facilities.
These are just some of the current and proposed uses for this site. As future advances in the
use of recycled and other products improve our industry, this facility will allow our company to
use new technology to remain competitive in the construction and landscape markets. While
these are the processes that we can currently identify, there may be future accessory uses to
these operations. We will continue to grow and improve our business as required to keep pace
with a growing community and industry.
5. The purpose and need for the change in zone classification: Currently, the north parcel of
land is zoned 1-3. All of the above mentioned uses are allowable in this zone. The southern
portion is currently classified as an M zone which is an obsolete zone in the Land
Development Code. The southern parcel needs to be changed to 1-3 to allow for the above
mentioned uses on the land.
