Contouring was performed using various CAT dozers and CAT excavators. Material generated
as the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
E) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
F) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A CAT 385 excavator and a John Deere 850 excavator were used to excavate structural fill
material in the following areas: between stations F4+00 (+/-) and F9+00 (+/-), approximately 0
to 150 feet right of centerline; between stations H6+00 (+/-) and 1-19+00 (+/-), approximately 0
to 40 feet left of centerline; and between stations J26+00 (+/-) and J28+00 (+/-), approximately
150 to 175 feet right of centerline. The structural fill material was loaded into CAT 777 haul
trucks.
Prior to structural fill placement, existing fill temperature were monitored and to be or above
39°F. Ambient were monitored, on an hourly basis, by an AMEC representative during fill
placement. No fill material was placed during ambient temperatures less than 32°F.
Structural fill was placed in the following areas: between stations A32+00 (+/-) and A34+00
(+/-), approximately 250 to 300 feet left of centerline; between stations A45+00 (+/-) and
A49+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 100 feet left of centerline; between stations B4+00 (+/-) and
B7+00 (+/-), approximately 100 feet left of centerline to 100 feet right of centerline; between
stations D0+00 (+/-) and D4+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 150 feet right of centerline; and
between stations F1+00 (+/-) and F2+25 (+/-), approximately 0 to 100 feet right of centerline.
Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24" lifts using various CAT dozers. Each lift was moisture
conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10-ton
vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method
compaction technique is applicable).
Structural fill (processed ore) was placed within the Phase IVa VLF between stations G2+00
(+/-) and G13+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 125 feet left of centerline and between stations
G16+00 (+/-) and G29+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 125 left of centerline. Fill material
(processed ore) was excavated from the Phase IVc re-certification area and the old LOB haul
road using a CAT 375 excavator loading the material into 40-ton articulating haul trucks.
Structural fill was placed using a CAT D-8 dozer in 12" loose lifts and moisture conditioned as
needed using a CAT 773 water truck. Compaction was achieved using a 10-ton vibratory
smooth drum compactor. Nuclear density testing was performed with results averaging 95% of
maximum dry density. Moisture density relations were obtained in accordance with ASTM
D698-07.
Blast pattern drilling was performed in the following areas: between stations A6+00 (+/-) and
A8+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet left of centerline; between stations 1-12+00 (+/-) and
H5+40 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet left of centerline; between stations J1+25 (+/-) and
J2+25 (+/-), approximately 100 to 130 feet left of centerline; and between stations J4+50 (+/-)
and J5+50 (+/-), approximately 225 to 275 feet left of centerline using three track mounted
VLF Weekly Report WE 11.07.09.D.doc
