ame
Earth & Environmental
Contouring was performed using various CAT dozers and CAT excavators. Material generated
as the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
E) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
F) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
Snow from the weekend snowfall was removed from all fill areas prior to any placement. Prior
to structural fill placement, existing fill temperature were monitored and to be or above 37°F.
Ambient were monitored on an hourly basis, by an AMEC representative during fill placement.
Fill temperatures averaged approximately 46°F during the period of time the ambient
temperature was below 32°F. No fill material was placed on 10/28/2009 and 10/29/2009.
Structural fill (processed ore) was placed within the Phase IV VLF, between stations G16+00
(+/-) and G30+00 (+/-), approximately 75 to 150 feet left of centerline. Fill material (processed
ore) was excavated from the Phase IVa and Phase 1Vc recertification areas using a CAT 375
excavator loading the material into 40-ton articulating haul trucks. Structural fill was placed
using a CAT D-8 dozer in 12" loose lifts and moisture conditioned as needed using a CAT 773
water truck. Compaction was achieved using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor.
Nuclear density testing was performed with results averaging 95% of maximum dry density.
Moisture density relations were obtained in accordance with ASTM D698-07.
Backfilling of the area were the 84" culvert was removed was performed using a CAT 345
excavator. Material excavated during culvert removal was placed in the area and compacted
using a walk-behind sheep's foot compactor. Lift sizes were generally 8" to 12" and were
moisture conditioned using a CAT 733 water truck, when necessary.
Blast pattern drilling was performed in the following areas: between stations E15+00 (+/-) and
E 18+00 (+/-), approximately 75 to 150 feet left of centerline: between stations H 10+00 (+/-)
and H11+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet right of centerline; and between stations J28+50
(+/-) and J29+50 (+/-), approximately 50 to 100 feet right of centerline using three track
mounted drill rigs. Blasting was performed in these areas Monday (10/26/2009), Tuesday
(10/27/2009), and Wednesday (10/28/2009).
G) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Processing Area
Processing of Soil Liner Fill material was paused for the entire week.
Location This Week
(tons) Cumulative Comments
So Cresson Clay Processing 0 112,770
Squaw Gulch Processing 0 35,816 Processin in area complete.
Total 0 144,678
VLF Weekly Report WE 10.31.09.D.doc
