Colowyo Response: The vegetation monitoring reports for 2006 and 2007
have been updated to reflect this request. Copies of the updated reports are
enclosed with this letter.
2. In the 2009 vegetation monitoring report, Colowyo has included reclamation block
WP001 in the sample data. Reclamation block WP001 is not included in the
Partial Phase II Bond Release SL -04 application (it was Phase II Released on 15
August 2001 with SL -03). Colowyo will need to remove all monitoring data from
reclamation block WP001 from the 2009 vegetation monitoring report. Please
remove all reference to and data from reclamation block WP001 from the
2009 vegetation monitoring report. Please redo all cover and sample
adequacy calculations as necessary. Please resubmit the 2009 vegetation
monitoring report for the Division's review.
Colowyo Response: All references to reclamation block WP001 have been
removed from the 2009 vegetation monitoring report, as requested. Copies
of the updated 2009 report are enclosed with this letter.
3. Based on a review of Exhibit 2 — Phase II Bond Release and Map 1 of the 2009
vegetation monitoring report, it appears as though transect 37 may be outside
(east of) reclamation block WP004 and, therefore, outside of the requested Phase
II Bond Release area. Please review the location of transect 37 from the 2009
revegetation monitoring report and verify whether it is, in fact, inside the
Partial Phase II Bond Release SL -04 area. If transect 37 is outside of the SL-
04 area, please remove it from the 2009 revegetation monitoring report.
Please redo all cover and sample adequacy calculations as necessary.
Colowyo Response: It has been confirmed that transect 37 is indeed within
the Partial Phase 11 Bond Release SL -04 area. The 2009 report includes this
transect in the cover and sample adequacy calculations.
4. In each vegetation monitoring report, Colowyo provides a map of the transect
locations (starting points) that were sampled for that year. Each of these sample
location "dots" has a very large scale. Based on the map scale, each of these dots
is approximately 225 feet in diameter (or approximately 0.91 acres). This large
size makes it difficult, in some cases, to determine which reclamation block a
sample transect is located in (see question 3 above). The Division understands
that a larger "dot" is easier to see on the map, but the large size of these dots has
added a level of confusion. Please reprint the transect location maps in the
vegetation monitoring reports using a smaller "dot" size for the transect
locations and resubmit them for the Division's review.
Colowyo Response: The scale on the sample location "dots" has been
reduced per the Division's request. New maps are enclosed with this letter.
