amec'0
Earth & Environmental
least 4-passes. These areas were inspected by an AMEC representative and accepted for
structural fill placement.
E) Slope Contouring
1) VLF
Slope contouring was performed in the following areas: between stations A0+00 (+/-) and
Al+00 (+/-), approximately 30 feet left of centerline to 30 feet right of centerline; between
stations A26+00 (+/-) and A38+00 (+/-), approximately 100 to 400 feet left of centerline;
between stations 1-18+00 (+/-) H13+00 (+/-), approximately 75 to 250 feet right of centerline;
between stations H24+00 (+/-) and H32+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 300 feet right of
centerline; and between stations J2+50 (+/-) and J24+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 300 left of
centerline. Contouring was performed using various CAT dozers. Material generated as the cut
progressed was pushed down the slope.
The subgrade surface, in areas designated by Ames, was inspected by AMEC representatives.
Small areas of rock pocketing were designated and the remaining areas were accepted for the
rough subgrade. Remediation of the rock pocketing areas will be performed by Ames at a later
date.
F) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road between stations A28+00 (+/-) to
A36+00 (+/-).
G) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850 excavator, a CAT 375 excavator, and a CAT 385 excavator excavated
structural fill material from the following areas: between stations A5+00 (+/-) and A7+00 (+/-),
approximately 30 feet left of centerline to 30 feet right of centerline; between stations H6+00
(+/-) and H14+00 (+/-), approximately 50 left of centerline to 50 feet right of centerline;
between stations H18+00 (+/-) and H28+50 (+/-), approximately 100 feet left of centerline to
75 feet right of centerline; between stations J14+00 (+/-) and J16+00 (+/-), approximately 200
to 225 feet right of centerline; and between stations J26+00 (+/-) and J29+00 (+/-), 30 feet left
of centerline to 75 right of centerline. The structural fill material was loaded into CAT 777
haul trucks. The material was transported to the following fill areas throughout the shift:
Structural fill material was placed between stations J2+00 (+/-) and J12+00 (+/-),
approximately 75 to 200 feet left of centerline and between A36+00 (+/-) and A47+00 (+/-),
approximately 75 left of centerline to 75 feet right of centerline. The structural fill material was
spread using various CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a
CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum
compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is
applicable).
Blast pattern drilling was performed between stations A0+00 (+/-) and Al+00 (+/-),
approximately 30 feet left of centerline to 30 feet right of centerline and between stations
VLF Weekly Report WE 09.05.09.D.doc
