Contouring was performed using CAT D-10, CAT D-9 and CAT D-8 dozers.
Material generated as the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
F) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near stations A28+00 (+/-) to A36+00
G) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850 excavator excavated structural fill material between stations J14+00 (+/-)
and J15+00 (+/-), approximately 200 feet right of centerline, A53+00 (+/-) and A53+50 (+/-),
H11+00 (+/-) and H13+00 (+/-), approximately 30-50 feet right of centerline, J16+00 (+/-) and
J18+00 (+/-), approximately 75 feet right of centerline, J6+00 (+/-) and J8+00 (+/-),
approximately 200 feet right of centerline, and H26+00 (+/-) and H28+50 (+/-), approximately
30 to 75 feet right of centerline. A CAT 385 excavator excavated structural fill material
between stations A9+00 (+/-) and A10+00 (+/-), approximately 150 feet left of centerline,
A7+00 (+/-) and A9+00 (+/-), approximately 20 to 50 feet left of centerline, and H8+00 (+/-)
and H10+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 50 feet right of centerline. The structural fill material
was loaded into CAT 777 haul trucks. The material from these areas was transported to the
following fill area throughout the shift:
Structural fill material was placed between stations A37+50 (+/-) and A40+00 (+/-),
approximately 0 to 150 feet left of centerline, A37+00 (+/-) and A39+00 (+/-), approximately 0
to 200 feet left of centerline, A37+00 (+/-) and A39+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet left of
centerline, J3+00 (+/-) to J13+00 (+/-), approximately 75 to 200 feet left of centerline, and
J7+00 (+/-) and J9+00 (+/-), approximately 150 to 200 feet left of centerline. The structural fill
material was spread by CAT D-8 dozers in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was moisture conditioned
using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth
drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction
technique is applicable).
Hard rock was drilled and blasted between stations A10+50 (+/-) and A11+50 (+/-),
approximately 75 to 100 feet left of centerline, and A3+00 (+/-) and A4+00 (+/-),
approximately 0 to 25 feet right of centerline using two Tamrock track drill rigs.
VLF Weekly Report WE 08.29.09.D.doc
