amec-O
Earth & Environmental
J8+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 300 feet left of centerline. A CAT D-9 dozer was used to rip
the subgrade surface to a depth of 6" to 8". The subgrade was then moisture conditioned using
a CAT 773 water tuck and compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor. The
entire surface of the subgrade was compacted with at least 4-passes. These areas were
inspected by an AMEC representative and accepted for structural fill placement.
E) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850D excavator, a Komatsu 800 excavator, a CAT 375 excavator, and a CAT
385 track excavator, excavated structural fill material from the following areas: between
stations A8+50 (+/-) and A9+00 (+/-), approximately 25 left of centerline to 25 feet right of
centerline; between stations A13+00 (+/-) and A14+00 (+/-), approximately 30 to 75 feet left
of centerline; between stations A30+00 (+/-) and A34+00 (+/-), approximately 200 to 400 feet
left of centerline; between H30+00 (+/-) and H34+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet left of
centerline; between stations H50+00 (+/-) and H52+00 (+/-), approximately 25 to 75 right of
centerline; and between J8+00 (+/-) and J15+00 (+/-), approximately 400 feet left of centerline
to 100 feet right of centerline. The structural fill material was transported using 777 haul trucks
and 40-ton articulating haul trucks.
Structural fill was placed between stations A22+00 (+/-) and A30+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to
75 feet right of centerline. Structural fill was placed using CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts
(based on rock size). Moisture conditioning of the fill was performed using a CAT 773-water
truck. Each lift was compacted with a 10-ton smooth drum vibratory compactor passing over
the entire surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is applicable).
Structural fill was placed between stations A37+00 (+/-) and A40+00 (+/-), approximately 50
to 100 feet right of centerline.
Structural fill was placed between stations J2+00 (+/-) and J4+00 (+/-), approximately 30 to
100 feet left of centerline.
Structural fill was placed between stations K4+00 (+/-) and K14+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to
250 feet right of centerline.
Slope scaling and slope preparation were performed through out the week using a CAT 345
excavator and a CAT 330 excavator.
Sheet 2 of 7
VLF Weekly Report WE 07.25.09.D.doc
