ArVII
ame
Earth & Environmental
A CAT D-8 dozer and a CAT 375 excavator were used for structural fill placement between
stations A44+00 (+/-) and A46+00 (+/-), approximately 150 to 300 left of centerline. The
material pushed from the cut area between stations A44+00 (+/-) and A46+00 (+/-),
approximately 300 to 350 left of centerline. The structural fill material was spread in 18" to
24" lifts. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary)
and compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill
surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique is applicable).
A CAT D-10 dozer and a CAT D-9 dozer were used for structural fill placement between
stations J7+00 (+/-) and J10+00 (+/-), approximately 300 to 400 right of centerline. The
material pushed from the cut area between stations A36+00 (+/-) and A37+50 (+/-),
approximately 300 to 350 left of centerline.
Slope contouring was performed between stations A10+50 (+/-) and A16+00 (+/-),
approximately 0 to 200 feet left of centerline using a various CAT dozers. Material generated
as the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
Slope re-grading was performed between stations A46+50 (+/-) and 47+50 (+/-),
approximately 300 to 450 left of centerline. A CAT 345 excavator and a CAT D-8 dozer were
used to remove excess material from the area and to re-grade the slope.
Blast pattern drilling was performed by Rockbreakers in the following areas: between stations
A8+00 (+/-) and A9+00 (+/-), approximately 20 feet left of centerline to 20 feet right of
centerline; between stations A10+50 (+/-) and Al 1+00 (+/-), approximately 30 to 80 feet right
of centerline; and between stations A17+50 (+/-) and A18+00 (+/-), approximately 15 to 30
feet right of centerline. Drilling was performed using 2 to 4 track mounted drill rigs. Drill
pattern blasting was performed on Monday (7/27/2009) and Wednesday (7/29/2009).
F) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Processing Area
Processing of Soil Liner Fill material continued at the South Cresson Clay Processing area. A
CAT D-6 dozer, a CAT 330 excavator, and a CAT 966 front-end loader were used to process
the material. Soil liner fill production was slowed due to saturated stockpiles.
Location This Week
tons Cumulative Comments
So Cresson Clay Processing 1,100 53,217
Squaw Gulch Processing 0 35,816 Processing in area complete.
Total 1,100 89,033
G) New ADR Water Tank
Excavation for manholes, at the new ADR water tank, was performed using a CAT 345 excavator.
The subgrade was inspected by an AMEC representative and accepted for granular fill placement.
Sheet 3 of 8
VLF Weekly Report WE 08.01.09.D.doc
