To fully understand the Reclamation Plan, the
following Plan and referenced Reclamation Plan Map should be reviewed
together.
(2) The Reclamation Plan shall include provision for, or satisfactory explanation
of the general requirements for the type of reclamation proposed:
(a) A description of the types of reclamation proposed to be achieved in
the reclamation of the affected land and why chosen, the amount of acreage
accorded to each, and a general discussion of the methods of reclamation as
related to the mechanics of earthmoving:
The expansion area extraction will be a conventional open pit mining operation.
The expansion area will be reclaimed to a pond with possible home sites. As is
currently practiced in the Hogue River Pit, the final pit slopes will be mined to no
steeper than two horizontal to one vertical. From five feet above to ten feet below
the expected water line the slopes shall be 3:1 or less. (Reconstructed wetlands
will be less than 3:1 and will be as depicted on the Reclamation Plan Map.)
(No waste asphalt or cement will be placed in the excavated area intended as a
pond)
The remainder of the area disturbed by the mining operations (Those areas
outside the pond shoreline.) will be reclaimed according to standard reclamation
practices for wildlife habitat and possible home sites. The detailed reclamation
plan for these areas is based on recommendations from the Natural Resource
Conservation Service (MRCS)
Page 13
