This former surface mine is now reclaimed and activities are generally focused on monitoring and
maintenance. Ground conditions on this day were dry and the weather was cold and windy.
Excess Spoil
Three excess spoil piles exist at this site. Each consists of three-four lifts of approximately 50 feet per lift.
Outslopes are no steeper than 2.5:1 and all outslopes area reclaimed and revegetated. No slumping, slides, or
erosional damage was noted on any of the reclaimed outslopes. Some maintenance work remains to be completed
on the downdrains of each fill and this work should be finished prior to early in the spring of 2011 when weather
conditions allow.
Hydrologic Balance
Sediment markers were noted in pond 6 and pond 7. However, the markers have no demarcations indicating
sediment level. The operator should ensure that all ponds have sediment markers that provide the information
necessary to determine sediment levels. This work shall be completed no later than March 2011, prior to spring
rainfall.
Significant grading using a small dozer has been completed in the last 30-60 days. Using the Annual reclamation
report map, work has been completed in the areas as noted.
Re-grading in the main drainage above pond 6 in area W-2 was noted. Straw bale barriers have been re-
established along the main drainage, although some of the installation appears improper at this time.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 5
