In the winter of 1986, Trapper Mine personnel found a possible historical site in
the NE 1/4, NW 1/4, Section 3, TSN, R91W. The site SMF2427, is an old homestead
consisting of a complex of three building locations, two wells, a retaining wall,
leveled areas, a dump, trace roads, etc. Nickens and Associates were contracted
to evaluate the site in May, 1987 (App. K, Part XII). Based on the survey
results, the State Historic Preservation Officer concluded that the site did not
qualify for the National Register.
