_ strictly followed to prevent possible effects on livestock and wildlife. Addi-
tionally, when restricted-use herbicides are used, they are applied in an
approved manner by trained and licensed applicators.

•
4.6.1.7 Poisons, Toxic Materials
With the exception of rodentcides used on commercial winter wheat seed, poisons
will not be used within the proposed mine plan area for rodent or predator con-
trol by Trapper Mine unless severe depredation of newly revegetated areas occurs.
Trapping of furbearers may be allowed in accordance with applicable regulations.
One waste pond is located immediately west of the shop and south of the office
area (Map M13). The pond contains small quantities of waste oil that collects on
the pond surface. The pond was constructed in 1974 and has been in continuous
use since that time. It has been checked weekly and there is no evidence that
wildlife have attempted to use it in any way. For this reason, fencing is not
planned. The pond will continue to be monitored for tracks or other evidence of
wildlife use and will subsequently be fenced if necessary.
4.6.2 Phvsical Improvements For Wildlife
Physical improvements for wildlife will be provided to draw animals away from
newly revegetated areas to promote reclamation success. The potential difficulty
with this is that animals may be attracted from other areas to the improved areas
resulting in an actual local population increase. Therefore, improvement sites
must be carefully selected and distributed to avoid this difficulty.
Any major change or addition in the proposed mitigative measures will be sub-
mitted to the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division for review prior to
implementation.
4-153
REWSED FEB 13 'S I
