1.) The following corrections need to be made to the map submitted to the Division on
August 16, 2010. Please submit an updated map including the following information in
addition to what is currently depicted:
a.) The corrected map must be signed by the registered land surveyor,
professional engineer or qualified person who pre-pared it.
b.) Please indicate the date the updated map was created.
c.) The map indicates a scale of 1 inch equaling 50 feet. However, the actual scale
is 1 inch equaling 106 feet. Please ensure the scale is indicated correctly on the
map.
d.) Please depict the current existing topography of the area with contour lines of
sufficient detail to portray the direction and rate of slope of the affected land.
e.)The map indicates two strips of land where the topsoil and overburden
stockpiles will be stored. Based on an inspection of the site, this is not the
location of the current topsoil stockpiles. Please indicate where the current
stockpiles of topsoil and overburden are located and where future stockpiles will
be located.
£) Please indicate the direction the mining operation will advance.
g.) Please indicate the location of the current highwall.
6.4.4 EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
2.) The mining plan states "sufficient slope will be maintained at all times to permit the
movement of equipment from ground level to the floor of the pit in the area of
operations." Please explain this statement, does the applicant intend on mining a pit
slope at an angle that can be driven by mining equipment at all times? Currently, a
vertical highwall or slope cut exists at the site preventing this activity. Will the Operator
no longer create a vertical highwall during mining? If not, indicate what angle the
excavation slopes will be mined at.
3.) The mining plan indicates mining will begin at the northern end of the permit
boundary and continue south. Please indicate the direction mining will proceed in the
additional 8.1 acres to the east of the current approved permit boundary.
4.) The mining plan indicates as the operation advances, previous mined areas will be
reclaimed; however, it also indicates reclamation will begin only once gravel is exhausted
at the site. The Division recommends a concurrent approach to reclamation. Current
areas of the permit boundary where mining is complete should be graded, topsoiled and
revegetated as soon as possible. Please clarify if reclamation will be concurrent with
2
