Paseo Dorado Dr. <br />Pueblo West, Colo. 81007 <br />July 30, 2002 <br />Res Objections concerning the Mining and Reclamation Permit GCC Rio Grande, Inc.; <br />112 Construction Materials Reclamation Permit Application DMG File # M-2002-004. <br />As an objector to the issuing of this permit, I am sending a summary of the <br />issues I wish to discuss at the Reclamation Board Hearing to be held on August <br />21, 2002, at the Pueblo Convention Center, 320 Central Main Street in Pueblo, Co., <br />starting at 10 AM. These issues are on the recommended list of issues discussed <br />at the June 26, 2002 Pre-hearing in Pueblo. These issues were to be considered <br />by the Board at the Formal Hearing. <br />Some of the issues listed overlap each other as one may have an affect on <br />another. Items listed may be combined in my presentation. <br />Issues of Concern: <br />Ground Water Quality <br />Concern about contamination <br />St. Charles River supply contamination <br />,.Contamination df.imderlying aquifers <br />Depth of water tables-soil permeability <br />Pollution of ground water resulting from blasting residues <br />Surface Water Quality <br />Contamination from blasting residues and mining activities <br />Blasting <br />Total amount (magnitude) of blasting agent ANFO to be used weekly <br />Contaminants in the blasting agents to be used <br />Vertical stress fractures in the sandstone below the mining activity <br />and the aquifers located below. <br />References utalized for research on these issues: <br />Exhibit A Chart on Hydraulic Conductivities of Selected Materials <br />Exhibit B Sketch of weekly mining activities described & volume of <br />explosives ANFO to be used <br />GCC Rio Grande's Application: Appendix B.
