October 19, 2010 C-1981-019/Colowyo Coal Mine KAG <br />Temporary ditches are used to divert runoff from mostly spoil areas to the remaining portion of the East Pit. <br />These ditches are temporarily non-functional due to the equipment road that is currently in use for reclamation <br />purposes. Portions of these ditches were inspected where they exist. These ditches are designed as required since <br />the areas that they divert do not report to Prospect pond and diverted areas are essentially excluded in the pond <br />design storm runoff modeling. The ditch design calls for V-ditch construction with a depth of three feet. As <br />shown below, when the ditches are re-established, ditch depth should be increased from the current two foot depth. <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1 <br />Page 3 of 8
