Proposed Limestone Quarry Access Road and Overview Cultural Resources Inventory <br />3.0 Cultural Context <br />The proposed project area falls within the area covered by the newly published prehistoric <br />context for the Arkansas River Basin (Zier and Kalasz 1999) and the historic context for the <br />southern plains prepared by Mehls and Carter (1984). In a general sense, the area was <br />occupied continuously throughout prehistory and into historic times and Table 3.1 presents the <br />cultural chronology for the Arkansas River Basin. <br />Table 5.1.
