September 20, 2010 C-1984-065/Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine 251?
and no erosional problems were noted at the time of the inspection.
REVEGETATION - Rule 4.15 Vegetative Cover; Timing:
- There was good overall vegetative cover at the mine site, including perennial grasses and shrubs. The vegetation
appears to be sufficient to control runoff and erosion on the reclaimed slopes.
- There is a problem with both Russian Knapweed and Diffuse Knapweed at the Coal Ridge Mine. Both species
of knapweed are spread around the site. CB Minerals must spray the entire site in both spring and fall each year to
control the knapweed infestation. During the inspection a person contracted by a surface lessee (a hunting
outfitter) did come to the site to spray the weeds. Nevertheless, the weed spraying is the responsibility of CB
Minerals, per permit page 4-60, and must be completed and documented in the Annual Reclamation Report each
year. Documentation must include species sprayed, chemicals used, the extent of the weeds, etc.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED - NONE
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 8
