SAN MIGUEL POWER ASSOCIATION
A Touchstone Energy' Cooperative ?0)[
September 8, 2010
Dear Member:
Tri-State Generation and Transmission Cooperative (San Miguel's power
supplier) is progressing with the new 115kV transmission line. This line improves
the transmission system feeding SMPA members, providing a stronger source
during peak times, and better reliability through a stronger alternate feed.
Great Southwestern (Tri-State's contractor) is nearing completion of the Nucla to
Norwood section of the project, which will allow us to take out the old 69kV
transmission line. To remove the poles and wire, crews will be accessing your
and/or neighboring properties. Representatives from Great Southwest will make
reasonable attempts to contact owners prior to entering the properties, and will
coordinate to minimize disrupting your operations (ie, watering, cutting, livestock,
etc).
Some transmission poles have other San Miguel, phone or member wires
attached - these will have only the top portion of the pole removed, leaving the
lower portion of the pole supporting the remaining wires.
If you have any_questions, please call:
Terry Daley
System Engineer
San Miguel Power Association
1-800-864-7256 x-203
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your
understanding. We expect this work to take place in late September to early
October: Please note that weather or other factors may delay the actual removal
schedule.
Headquarters
81424 Box 1150, Ridgway, Colorado 81432
Box 817, Nucla, Colorado
970-626-5549
970.864.7311.970-864.7257 Fax . 970.626.5688 Fax
