Mr. Stover can provide
examples of this.
"Installing equipment for dewatering
is technically challenging to accomplish safely.
The mine is no longer safe for entry." Folk, this
is called mining. Refurbishing/repairing the mine
and installing ventilation can be done, and we have
people here that can help the operator do that.
"Mine pool dewatering and treatment
at this time will preclude the opportunity to
demonstrate that treatment of the alluvial
groundwater will address the Ralston Creek issues,
and that mine dewatering and treatment are not
necessary."
17 Our response, there is no time fora
18 demonstration project. Remediation is needed now to
19 prevent off-site migration of the mine pool water.
20 Ralston Reservoir, as you know, is less than 2 miles
21 away. Denver Water has detected increasing
22 concentrations of uranium. Because a drinking water
23 source is being impacted, we need the certainty that
24 this mitigation action will provide and address
25 those impacts.
