Service Road, Unit B <br />Evans, Colorado 80620 <br />Attention: Gary DeWitt <br />Subject: Engineering Evaluation for Mining Within 200 feet of CO Hwy 263. <br />Permit No. M-2000-082, East 8th Street Operation <br />Aggregate Industries, West Central Region, Inc. <br />Greeley, Colorado <br />Mr. Dewitt: <br />Haley & Aldrich, Inc. (Haley & Aldrich) was retained by Aggregate Industries, West Central <br />Region, Inc. (Aggregate Industries) to perform an engineering evaluation on the subject <br />property as requested in a memo from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) <br />dated 13 October 2000. The request was in regards to the Agreement to Mine within 200 feet <br />of Permanent Man-Made Structures. The Right of Way (ROW) for Colorado Highway (SH) <br />263 lies within 200 ft north of the proposed mining limits. The results of our evaluation are <br />presented in this letter report. <br />In completing this evaluation, we have performed the following: <br />1. Researched the subsurface conditions of the northern side of the proposed mining limits. <br />2. Constructed typical cross sections of the pit at the nearest point to the ROW during mine <br />operation and after reclamation. <br />3. Performed slope stability calculations based on anticipated conditions during and after <br />mining activities. <br />In performing this work, we have reviewed and/or relied on the following documents. <br />1. Report of a Geotechnical Exploration, Meyers Property - Approximately 50 Net Acres, <br />Southeast Corner of Ash Avenue and 8th Street (Highway 263), South 1/2 Section 4, <br />Township 5 North, Range 65 West, Greeley, Colorado, prepared by Terracon, 06 <br />October 1998. <br />2. Regular (112) Mining and Reclamation Permit Application, East 8th Street Operation, <br />Greeley, Colorado, prepared by Haley & Aldrich, Inc., June 2000.
