below the surface. The drill rig was Coors Energy Company owned, and was operated by
CEC employees. There is no record of a contractor number.
The information provided may be more than you want or need, but it was the simplest way to pull it
from the files and endeavor to keep the well numbers straight. We have also endeavored to review the
DRMS rules, and while not professing expertise in this area, we would offer the following observation:
Since both "mixed use" wells were permitted and completed into "ground water basins" with
the intent to supply water for operational uses at the site, and they are not exploration drill
holes or part of a drilling program, it would seem that their abandonment would conform to
Rule 4.07.4. To that end, CEC apparently did submit record documentation for abandonment to
the State Engineer (and probably also to the Division). The files do indicate acknowledgment
from the State Engineers office that both wells are recognized as "abandoned".
We trust that some of this information is helpful in clarifying the record. If needed, we can discuss it
further on your next visit to the site.
Sincer
Donald W. acDonald
Manager, Energy Services
Attachments
