Four-wing saltbush, which had been barren of leaves throughout the
spring and summer, appeared vigorous and had leafed out nicely (Photo 2). Small stands of Blue grama
were observed (Photo 3), as was needle-and-thread grass. Winterfat was scattered throughout the
reclaimed areas.
Vegetation at reclaimed Mining Area No. 3 appeared to include a high percentage of Russian thistle
(Photo 4).
Several areas where stands of Russian knapweed had been noted in previous years were examined during
the inspection (Photo 5). Weed spraying efforts initiated in 2009 appear to have been highly successful
in reducing the number of plants and the areas affected.
On the floor of Pond A, there were numerous tamarisk plants, but also a few broadleaf cottonwoods
(Photo 6).
SEALING OF DRILLED HOLES AND UNDERGROUND OPENINGS - Rule 4.07
RECLAMATION PLAN COMPLIANCE - Rule 4.13
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
OTHER (SPECIFY)
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 7
