7.0 SPILL CONTROL TRAINING PROCEDURES <br /> 7.1 Supervisory Training <br /> Training for spill prevention, control, and countermeasures at Climax Mine will be conducted <br /> during the annual MSHA refresher courses for all supervisors. Training will involve the <br /> following elements: <br /> (1) Demonstration of spill clean-up materials used at Climax Mine including those indicated in <br /> Table 3 of this SPCC/MCP will be completed during training. <br /> (2) Review of the SPCC/MCP including notification procedures, spill response, the Incident <br /> Report Form (Appendix 1), and follow-up will be conducted. <br /> (3) The SPCC /MCP map will be reviewed by all trainees to gain a knowledge of potential spill <br /> areas and locations of nearest spill control kits and supplies. <br /> (4) Discussion of case histories and spill incidents at Climax and throughout the industry will <br /> ensue to gain a perspective on how to safely and efficiently handle spill clean-up. <br /> (5) Presentation of any new concepts in areas such as pollution prevention, innovative spill <br /> control technology, and new products available will be made. <br /> (6) The Climax Mine Environmental Coordinator (or his designee) will document the <br /> participation of supervisors in the SPCC/MCP training and a file will be maintained to insure <br /> that sufficient spill control training has been offered to Climax supervisory personnel.. <br /> 7.2 Training for Non-supervisory Personnel <br /> At the discretion of Climax Mine management, non-supervisory personnel may receive a more <br /> informal training ("out-in-the field demonstration") than described for supervisors in Section 7.1. <br /> Nevertheless, spill training will be conducted for all employees expected to respond to or be <br /> responsible for spill clean-up or containment. Any employee receiving such training will be <br /> required to sign a statement that documents such training, and it will be kept on file in the office <br /> of the Environmental Coordinator. <br /> 70 <br />
