 i i i •
Environmental
pH CALIBRATION AND MEASUREMENT
For maximum accuracy, a two-buffer calibration shall be completed at the beginning of each day
and after each power-up of the meter. The two-buffer calibration provides the correct setting for
degrees Celsius (°C)/slope control. As long as the meter has not been turned off, a single-buffer
calibration (instead of a two-buffer calibration) can be used before making subsequent
measurements. It is suggested that the two-buffer calibration be completed at least three times a
day.
The following instructions apply specifically to the Orion Model 91-06 pH meter. If another
model is used, refer to manufacturer's directions.
Two-buffer calibration
1. Connect pH electrode (ORION Model 91-06) to the meter and rinse the electrode
with distilled/deionized (DS/DI) water.
2. Set °C/slope control to buffer solution temperature (°C).
3. Place electrode in pH 7 buffer solution and stir moderately.
4. Slide mode switch to pH. Allow reading to stabilize, then adjust CALIB knob so that
correct buffer value at that temperature is displayed.
5. Remove electrode from the buffer solution and rinse with DS/DI water.
CO2116
