The Life of Mine Road was watered by
trucks during the inspection. Some dust was created by the gully repair operations in the Oak Gulch drainage.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE - Rule 4.090 ?Placement; Drainage Control; Surface
Stabilization:
Construction of Horse Gulch Fill was observed. The Molly Brown dragline was casting spoil, and three
scrapers were placing topsoil between the first and second benches. No compliance issues were detected.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 ? ?Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,
4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water
Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage - Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;
Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Several sediment ponds on the site were inspected, and the following maintenance issues were observed:
• Sediment level markers appear to be missing for West Pyeatt #1, East Pyeatt#1, East Pyeatt#2, East
Pyeatt#3, Oak #1, Oak #2, and East Middle Flume.
• Sediment removal is needed from Oak #1 and possibly Oak #2.
Repairs have been made to the dam at West Pyeatt #1 pond. Sediment in East Pyeatt #1 has been cleaned out, but
significant disturbed area around pond, as well as sediment sources in the watershed (F Pit, Haul Road) will
require frequent cleaning in the future. Sediment has also been removed from East Middle Flume pond.
Animal burrow holes were observed on the Coyote Pond embankment, but do not appear to pose a threat to the
relatively large structure.
The inspection indicated no water quality problems, such as oil and grease or turbid water, at any of the pond
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 6
