Connecting to Existing Pipeline <br />1. The contractor shall notify the owner prior to the location and connection to the <br />existing pipeline; coordinate with owner to make connection with the least amount of <br />disruption to facility operations <br />2. Field locate proposed and existing pipeline connection, confirm with owner prior to <br />construction <br />3. Use appropriate fittings and materials to ensure correct installation <br />J. Carrier Pipe in Steel Casing and End Seals <br />1. Install casing spacers on carrier pipe in accordance with manufacturer's specifications <br />2. Locate as shown of the drawings <br />3. Install spacers on each joint of pipe with a maximum spacing of b ft O.C. <br />4. Join all pipe in accordance with manufacturer's specification <br />S. Use pipe restraints to insure continuous pipe connection <br />6.' Push carrier pipe sections through the casing with casing spacers until pipeline is <br />extended a minimum of 5 ft beyond the end of the casing pipe <br />7. Install casing pipe end seals in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations <br />3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br />A. Cleaning <br />1. Prior to filling and testing the installed line, the contractor shall ensure that the line is <br />clean. <br />B. Hydrostatic Testing <br />Preparation <br />a. The contractor shall provide measurement gauges and recording devices for the <br />test, including pump, pipe, connections, and other necessary apparatus, unless <br />otherwise specified by the owner, and shall provide the necessary assistance to <br />conduct the test. <br />b. The contractor may test the pipeline in sections when all pipe in the section is at <br />least seven (7) days old where concrete thrust blocks are involved. Prior to the <br />test, the pipeline shall be completely filled with water for a minimum of forty- <br />eight (48) hours under working pressure. During this period, the project shall be <br />examined for leaks. <br />c. Remove all air by means of air relief valves or other means as required. <br />2. Test Pressure and Duration <br />a. Use a test pressure of 1.25 times the maximum working pressure measured at the <br />lowest elevation of the pipeline test section or the working pressure plus 50 psi, <br />whichever is greater. In no case shall the test pressure exceed the design pressure <br />of the pipe and appurtenances. <br />b. Maintain the test pressure within + / -5 psig of test pressure for at for a minimum <br />of 2 hours. <br />331100 -9 <br />
