The use of joint restraints shall be approved for Iocations per engineer. <br />D. Aerial Crossing <br />Pipe span across the Amity Canal shall use the pipe structure from Teeter Irrigation <br />a. Installation of aerial pipe crossing, fittings, air relief valve, restraints, concrete <br />supports and all other materials of construction shall be specified and provided <br />by Teeter Irrigation <br />b. Install supports for all joints in pipe utilized for aerial crossing and to prevent <br />overturning and settlement <br />c. Insure that there are allowances for correct' expansion of aerial crossing structure <br />d. Coordinate with owner prior to materials ordering and construction. <br />E. Protection of Metal Surfaces <br />I . Coat all ferrous metal rods, clamps, bolts, and other accessories being in contact with <br />any earthen material shall be coated with coal tar epoxy. <br />2. Coat all ferrous metal items per manufactures recommendations. <br />F. Valves <br />1. Install valves in the pipeline in the same manner specified for laying and jointing the <br />pipe <br />2. Support all underground valves with ca <br />3. Install valves in accordance with details on drawings and construction standards or per <br />manufacturer's recommendations whichever is more stringent <br />G. Valve boxes <br />1. Install valve boxes on all buried valves except where specified per engineer <br />2. Place boxes directly plumb and centered over valve <br />3. Install boxes in a manner that does not place stress on valve <br />4. All back fill material shall be compacted <br />5. Set valve boxes at the following levels based upon conditions <br />a. In off-road areas: flush with surface <br />b. In gravel drive areas: 4 -inch below surface <br />H. Tracer Wire <br />1. Wire shall be installed in a continuous fashion <br />2. Install on top of water main and secure every five (5) feet with tape <br />3. Take care not to damage the wire coating <br />4. Shall be brought to the surface at Ieast every one thousand (1,000) feet <br />5. Bring tracer wire to surface at every valve box, vault blue utility marker or per owner <br />6.
