3. Processing facilities - Nothing has changed here.
4. Access corridors - No change in access corridors.
New soil and overburden stockpiles - Due to the general lack of mining activity in the last
year and restriction to existing disturbances, new stockpiles were small and located near or
adjacent to mining locations. Most of the older stockpiles have been removed and used in
reclamation.
RECLAMATION ACTIVITY IN THE LAST YEAR:
Climatic summary of previous year - This was previously discussed elsewhere in the
report.
2. Topsoiling - Some minor topsoiling was done in the last year, all of it on upland areas that
were completed with backfilling.
A. Locations of topsoiling - All the topsoiling done in the last year was on the south
end of the upland area in the older mined locations west of the main road. Other than
the current mining and the plant site, all land east of the main road has been
reclaimed.
B. Depth of topsoiling - Topsoil depth met or exceeded the minimums required by
the plan.
C. Final grading of topsoiled lands - None of the land that was topsoiled has been
final graded.
3. Accommodation for drainage - Drainage in recently completed portions still have some
minor low spot that have turned out to not be problematic. It is beneficial to leave these as the
low spots have been invasion locations of considerable cottonwood. It is hard to tell whether
these invaders will actually establish small stands of cottonwood in the uplands around these
low spots, but it would be beneficial to give them a chance to do so as it will create habitat
diversity and visual interest.
4. Revegetation - No land was seeded in the last year.
5. Status of Prior Revegetation Areas-
A. Status of newest seedings as of report date - The 61 acres seeded last year is doing
very well with only local areas of minor weakness. For a second year growth it is
better than would normally be expected for a site with these characteristics. Some
Canada thistle has invaded this area and is being promptly controlled. On this site it
could quickly get out of hand, especially in the more moist western half of the site. A
partial species list follows in approximate order of declining abundance.
Status report for 2009 due July 15, 2010 Page 7 of 11
