Multiple gas wells have been drilled since active mining ceased in the area. The pipelines for
water and gas associated with the wells have been installed along the access roads. It is
anticipated that the pipelines servicing the wells can be protected by uncovering them
(decoupling them from the ground strains in the soil induced by subsidence). Protective pillars
300 ft square will. be left around active gas wells per the MSHA requirements for mine safety.
With this letter permit sections modifications are being submitted under the 2.05.2 Operation
Plan - Life of Operation, 2.05.3 Operation Plan - Permit Area, 2.05.6 Mitigation of Surface Coal
Mining Operation Impacts - Hydrological and Subsidence.
