J. J. Dudash -2- July 6, 2010
6. Install 9-inch thick concrete lining in shaft. (1200 cubic yards of concrete)
7. Install escape hoist.
8. Install nitrogen generator system powered by electrical compressors. Power
from underground.
The general arrangement of the temporary facilities required for the raise bore
operation are shown on Map 42. A portable generator is required along with adjacent
fuel tanks. Primary containment for the fuel tanks will be through double wall
construction or the tanks will be placed in a containment area. The containment will be
lined with a suitable PVC material and the volume of the containment will be large
enough to contain the entire volume of the fuel tank plus 3 inches of freeboard for
precipitation. All facilities are in excess of 100 feet from Terror Creek so refueling or
lubricating will not take place within 100 feet of wetlands or other water bodies.
Refer to Map 42 for a plan view that shows the equipment that will be permanently
installed at the shaft site. The proposed shaft site is approximately 350 feet measured
horizontally and 120 measured vertically from Terror Creek.
The proposed shaft site is not within any congressionally designated areas, such as
wilderness, wilderness study areas, or national recreation areas.
Right of Entry
The shaft site is located on surface managed by the BLM. Right of entry on BLM
managed land is, subject to stipulations, authorized by Federal Coal Lease COC-
61209.
Affected and Disturbed Area
The construction site will disturb approximately 0.5 acres. The site was previously used
as a drill pad for TC-03-03 so there is approximately 0.5 acres of permitted disturbance.
There is no additional disturbance for this technical revision. Restoration of the site to
approximate original contour, distribution of topsoil and seeding are accounted for in
TR-25 and subsequent updated reclamation estimates.
Cultural Resources
See Volume VI, Cultural Resources, item 11.
Access
Access to the site will be via the Terror Creek access road approved by MR-116.
Soils
No detailed soil survey will be performed in the areas to be disturbed for the
construction site. To the extent possible, depending on the slope of the ground surface,
topsoil will be salvaged and stockpiled in the location shown on Map 42.
Vegetation
