c-0
ame
Earth & Environmental
C) Slope Contouring
1) VLF
Slope contouring was performed in the following areas: between stations A8+00 (+/-) and
A30+00 (+/-), approximately 500 feet left of centerline to 15 feet left of centerline; between
stations E14+00 (+/-) and E18+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 150 feet right of centerline;
between stations G29+00 (+/-) and G30+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 150 feet left of
centerline; between stations H0+00 (+/-) and H3+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 100 feet left of
centerline; between stations H26+00 (+/-) and H33+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 400 feet right
of centerline; and between stations J12+00 (+/-) and J30+00 (+/-), approximately 300 feet left
of centerline to 600 feet right of centerline. Slope contouring was performed using various
CAT dozers and various CAT excavators. The material generated as the cut progressed was
pushed down the slope.
D) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
E) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
Structural fill placement was performed pushing cut material from between stations J12+00
(+/-) and J15+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet right of centerline to an adjacent fill between
stations J12+00 (+/-) and J15+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet left of centerline. Cut/fill
operations were performed using a CAT D-8 dozer. Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24"
lifts. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and
compacted using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill
surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique was applicable).
No blast pattern drilling or blasting was performed during the week.
F) Soil Liner Fill
1) VLF
Soil liner fill (SLF) placement continued in the areas shown in Figure 3, hauling from the East
Cresson Clay borrow. Subgrade was approved and moisturized prior to placement using a
tandem-axel water truck. Placement was performed using two CAT D-6 dozers, and one CAT
skid steer loader in a one-foot compacted lift. Moisture conditioning was performed using a
tandem-axel water truck and compaction was performed using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum
compactor. Nuclear density testing, moisture verification, and depth checks were performed in
the geomembrane deployment areas throughout the week. All test results were within project
specifications and all test locations were surveyed by Ames.
SLF material was hauled from the East Cresson Clay borrow area and stockpiled near stations
A28+00 (+/-), approximately 200 feet left of centerline. Material was hauled using CAT 777
haul trucks loaded by a CAT 385 excavator.
VLF Weekly Report WE 06.12.10.D
