7

Drilling operations associated with the MDP are expected in the project area for approximately 5 years. When the natural
gas reservoir is depleted and wells are no longer capable of producing in economic quantities, each well would be plugged
and abandoned under applicable BLM and State plugging rules. The Operator would reclaim well sites and designated roads
consistent with a reclamation plan approved by the FS.
Decision Framework
The Forest Service Responsible Official will decide whether to approve the MSUPO, or approve it with conditions (i.e.
Conditions of Approval (COAs)) needed for use of the surface during exploration drilling and potential production activities.
Specific components of the decision include:
1. Approving surface use on the applicable federal oil and gas leases and identifying any conditions of approval at
four well locations;
2. Approving the proposed new access and co-located gas gathering line road locations;
3. Approving GEC's use of existing Forest roads;
4. Approving gas transmission pipeline location.
Under certain specific circumstances, the Forest Service may choose not to approve the proposed activities at the specific
locations proposed.
Comment Period
The proposal is being released for the 30-day public comment period according to 36 CFR 215.5. The opportunity to
comment on the proposal ends 30 days following the date of publication of the legal notice in The Daily Sentinel. The Forest
Service Responsible Official is Charlie Richmond, GMUG Forest Supervisor. Comments may be submitted in hard copy
through the mail, fax, delivered by hand, or e-mailed.
