o Prepare a temporary storages area to contain rock removed from Little <br />Deadwood Gulch at the bottom of the access road to the constructed May Day <br />manway <br />o Using a backhoe remove material from Deadwood Gulch (See Photographs) <br />o As necessary use manual labor to restore original stream channel <br />o Store excavated material in designated area (Estimated amount of rock to be <br />stored is 250 cubic yards.) <br />o On the downgradient side of the stored material, install a silt fence <br />o Reclaim the stream channel, banks and adjacent disturbed areas using the <br />following guidelines. (Guidelines for vegetation, mulch, erosion control <br />matting, straw bale barrier, silt fences are attached for reference purposes.) <br />¦ Manually grade or use a small Bobcat or suitable alternative frontend <br />loader/box grader to conform the disturbed area to the approximate <br />original contour <br />¦ Revegetate the channel bottom using DRMS approved seed mix <br />(Table 1) <br />¦ Install jute netting or suitable alternative on areas disturbed in the <br />stream channel and banks. (Because of the steep gradient-reinforce <br />netting to ensure the material will remain intact.) <br />¦ Place riprap in the stream channel such that the stream bottom is <br />adequately protected to prevent downstream erosion and sedimentation <br />impacts. <br />¦ Install rock weirs above and below the disturbed areas <br />¦ In areas not covered with jute netting or suitable alternative materials <br />grade, seed and mulch the reclaimed areas. <br />¦ When area has been graded, and revegetated ensure appropriate <br />erosion and sedimentation control structures are in place including but <br />not limited to silt fences, straw bales, riprap <br />¦ Photo document reclamation-stream restoration activities <br />o Obtain permanent disposal permit approval; when approval is received in <br />writing, remove stored rock and reclaim the temporary and final disposal area <br />within 45 days of approval of a final disposal site (weather permitting) <br />Inspection and Maintenance <br />• Inspect the reclaimed site and photo document the site on a monthly basis-Refer to <br />Guidance Documents for potential areas requiring inspection. <br />• Repair areas as needed (all repairs must be reported to DRMS) <br />References <br />Guidelines for Reclamation of Drainage Basins and Channels <br />1 Temporary rock storage area is proposed to reclaim the designated area until an final disposal area has been <br />identified, amended into the May Day Mine permit and disposal and reclamation activities have been approved by <br />DRMS.
