8.0 Reclamation P lan
The refuse pile will be progressively reclaimed in accordance with the CDRMS Rule 2.05.4 during
operations. The features will be restored to complement the surrounding landscape and avoid,
minimize, and /or mitigate, potential environmental impacts. Reclamation of the RPE East will
include vegetative soil distribution, revegetation, and road removal.
8.1 Reclamation Plan Components
The following tasks will be undertaken as parts of site reclamation.
8.1.1 Vegetative Soil Redistribution
Vegetative soil will be removed and stored as indicated in Section 4.1. Redistribution of vegetative
soil will occur progressively as the lower and successive benches of the RPE East are built to final
grade and are ready to be reclaimed, as required by Rule 4.13, Contemporaneous Reclamation. The
outside surface of the refuse pile will be roughened if necessary and the vegetative soil spread in an
average of 18" to 24" in depth over the surface. Fertilizer will be applied to the redistributed
vegetative soil if the need for additional nutrients is determined.
8.1.2 Revegetation
After vegetative soil has been spread over the constructed RPE East area benches to be reclaimed, the
area will be seeded with MCC's permanent native seed mix by broadcasting or hydroseeding.
Seeding will occur the first normal period favorable for planting after each segment of the RPE East
has been built to final grade and covered with soils. The seeded area will be mulched and anchored.
Noxious weeds will be controlled accordance with the approved plan in MCC's approved permit.
8.1.3 Road Removal
In accordance with the Rules, after the RPE East refuse pile has been fully completed and reclaimed
the haul roads that are no longer needed to access monitoring instruments or for other maintenance
needs will be closed to vehicular traffic, culverts will be removed, and the reclamation will be
completed in accordance with Rule 4.03.1(7)(a) . The roads will be covered with vegetative soil and
seeded with MCC's permanent native seed mix.
