•
RULE 2.05.4
RECLAMATION PLAN
Introduction
The disturbed area within the new Seneca II permit area has been backfilled, graded,
topsoiled and seeded. There are no current mining or disturbance activities ongoing.
Phase I bond release (SL -1 and SL -4) has been obtained for all 266.7 acres of the disturbed
area, while Phase 11 bond release (SL -3) has been obtained on 139.4 acres of the disturbed
area.
There is continuing annual maintenance and monitoring conducted, which includes:
Annual Resorting
Rill & Gully Survey
A visual survey of the disturbed area is conducted annually following snowmelt to
determine the extent of maintenance and repair that will be necessary during the summer
and fall construction season. Any areas of erosion observed that require repair are located
on a map which is submitted to DRMS by June 0 every year.
Weed Control
Weed and vegetation surveys conducted on the Seneca Coal Co. property have revealed
many weed species. The management of these species varies according to level of
infestation and sensitivity of surrounding vegetation. Seneca uses an integrated approach
to weed control on property owned in Routt County, Colorado. Management includes
prevention, chemical control, mechanical and biological controls.
Following are the weed control plan measures employed to monitor, control and report:
1. Each spring prior to control application the land manager at Seneca will survey and
map as accurately as possible all weed infestations.
2. The map will be a permanent record available for inspection by the county weed
coordinator and any interested party.
3. Weed control activities will be reported each year for each mine permit to the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology via the Annual Reclamation Report.
These documents will also be available for public inspection.
4. An evaluation of the effectiveness of the weed control effort will be included in the
annual reports.
5. This weed management plan will be amended as necessary to reflect changes in
species and control methods.
•
A copy of the approved Weed Control Plan is contained in Tab 13, Appendix 13 -14, Weed
Management Plan.
PR -02
2.05.4 -1
06/10
