area will not be mined for more than 12 months, the areas will be chiseled or ripped
(scarified) prior to replacement of soil and seeding. Any spoil will be used as subsoil
to establish final contours, and will be covered by soil for revegetation (see also
Exhibit J). It is anticipated that a minimum of 12 inches of soil or subsoil will be placed
on all surfaces except roadways and ponds, above impermeable or bedrock
materials (Mancos shale).
Exhibit F includes cross-sections of various portions of the pit, showing a profile of the
surface before and after mining, and after reclamation. Maps in Exhibit F shows
scheduled reclamation by year, planned, approximate contours after mining and
reclamation, and general drainage information, including probable location of
basins and outfalls if necessary for storm water and erosion/sediment control.
PLAN/SCHEDULE (6.4.5.(2)e.)
The following features constructed during mining or reclamation will be left in place
as permanent post-reclamation features, as requested by the landowner and
shown on Map F-1:
1. Access roads: approximately 6000 linear feet of County Standard roads, with
necessary culverts, berms, embankments, cuts, fills, ditch crossing, and
associated drainage features, plus trails as needed for access from road to all
portions of the property.
2. Perimeter and internal fencing to secure site, divide pasture areas, and
otherwise control access and animal movement.
3. Water pipelines and related irrigation equipment, whether surface-laid or
buried.
4. French drains for discharge of water from mined and upstream areas while
preventing surface runoff and erosion.
5. Ponds with berms, dikes, channels, and related drainage structures.
6. Improvements to springs, and related drainage structures.
The existing status of various portions of the existing affected area is shown on
the table on Map F-1. Backfilling, grading, and placement of soil should be
accomplished within one year of completion of extraction of construction materials
together with rebuilt roadways (See also Exhibit J). Depending upon the date of
completion of the backfill, grading, and placement, the land will remain in fallow
until the appropriate planting season for the crop(s) or forage selected, for
revegetation as planned.
The proposed sequence and estimated schedule by year of reclamation of
various areas of the affected land is shown in the table on Map F-2. The lag
between completion of mining an area to seeding will vary based on need for
stockpile and plant areas, traffic patterns, and overall life of the operation. For
estimating purposes, it may be assumed that one of the ten reclamation areas will
be completed (except for waiting for vegetation to meet standards for release)
each year, 2011-2020.
Exhibits for 112(c) AM-02 Application -M-1994-108-2010- Page 25
