Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division has completed its review of the Colowyo Mine's 2007, 2008 and 2009 Annual <br />Hydrology Reports. These reports fulfill the requirements of Rule 4.05.13(4)(c). The Division <br />has several questions regarding the Annual Hydrology Reports that follow the "Annual <br />Hydrology Report Review" section of this letter. <br />Annual Hydrology Report Review <br />CDPS Permit <br />The Colowyo Mine is currently operating under Colorado Discharge Permit System permit <br />number CO-0045161. The permit expired on 29 February 2010. Colowyo applied for anew <br />permit on 1 October 2009 and is currently operating under the old permit until the new permit is <br />issued. During the monitoring years 2007, 2008 and 2009 Colowyo performed all necessary <br />monitoring as required by CO-0045161. All quarterly DMR's were sent as required. <br />Sediment Ponds <br />Pursuant to Rule 4.05.9(17) Colowyo performed quarterly inspections on all of their sediment <br />ponds. Currently Colowyo has 12 sediment ponds (Streeter, Work Area, Gossard, Gulch A, <br />Stoker Siding, Rail Loop, Prospect, West Pit, Section 16, East Taylor, West Taylor and Section <br />28). None of the inspection reports noted any problems with the ponds. <br />In previous years all of the quarterly sediment pond inspections were submitted yearly as a part <br />of the Annual Hydrology Report. Following the review of the 2005 Annual Hydrology Report <br />the Division requested that all quarterly sediment pond inspection reports be submitted on a <br />quarterly basis, following the inspections.
