Surface structures will have step -down transformers as appropriate for
the specific power needs at the facility. All transformers, switch gear,
and other electrical equipment will be enclosed by wire fences with
locked gates, or be located in locked enclosures to limit access. Signs
will be posted in all such areas to warn of potential electrical hazards.
Upon completion of mining and related activities, substations, power
lines and related electrical equipment will be removed and salvaged.
Substation foundations will be demolished, resulting debris will be
disposed of in a designated disposal site in the facilities area, and the
related disturbance areas will be graded to blend with surrounding
terrain.
Mine Dewaterin4 System
A dewatering system will be constructed on the surface to route water
pumped from the mine to the sediment pond. The system will be
established only if significant water inflows are encountered in the
mining operations.
_The- proposed design includes water lines installed in the slope that
reach the surface at the portal, then travel underground to' the north
end of the sediment pond. A distribution device at the end of the pipe
will slow the water flow to minimize disturbance in the pond and
associated increases in suspended solids in the area of the pipe
discharge point. General construction and dimensional information for
the mine dewatering system is provided on Table 2.05.3 -2.
Facility Septic System
All sanitary waste from the buildings in the facilities area will route to a
central septic tank and leach field system. The proposed location for
the system is east and north of the bathhouse building within the
facilities bench footprint. This location will minimize the potential for
groundwater discharge from the leach field to impact the slope entry,
sediment pond, or Chandler Creek.
An estimated size of total tank capacity has been determined for the
operation, and the general construction and dimensional information
for the septic system is provided on Table 2.05.3 -2.. Preliminary
peculation tests have been completed indicating that the system will
function in the existing soils. Additional tests and a final design for the
system will be completed during construction of the mine bench area.
2.05.3 -22 Revised 12/04/09, TR -01
