• blowing configuration. An axial type fan is proposed for the installation
which provide maximum air moving efficiency, allow adjustments to
flow volume, and can be equipped with dampers to reduce noise
levels. The fan will be controlled and monitored by automated systems
which well provide timely warning in the event of fan malfunctions.
General construction and dimensional information for the fan, air duct,
and escape pod enclosure is provided on Table 2.05.3 -2.
Upon completion of mining, the fan, associated mechanical equipment,
and housing structure will be salvaged and removed from the site.
Foundations and other incombustible construction materials will be
disposed of in the shaft openings. Finally, each shaft collar will be
sealed with a reinforced concrete cap equipped with a vent pipe.
Overburden material will be placed over the concrete caps and the
area will be graded to provide drainage away from the immediate area
of the seal. Detailed descriptions of a shaft seal and final reclamation
of the associated area are provided later in Section 2.05.4.
Mine Office /Bathhouse /Warehouse Building
A metal building located near the portal area will serve multiple mine
operating functions. Offices will be provided in the building for the
mine production and maintenance management, safety, payroll, and
purchasing staff. Areas will also be available for meetings, training,
and lunch facilities. Separate areas within the structure will be
provided for the changing and showering of all workers and staff, with
enough showers as required for the projected number of miners on
each shift. In addition, a separate portion of the building will serve as a
warehouse for supplies and spare parts for both surface and
underground mining operations.
Dependent upon the nature and frequency of use, and their size, spare
parts and supplies may either be stored inside the warehouse area or
in an open storage area on the surface which is adjacent to the
warehouse. Inventory and material control practices will insure that all
materials and especially those which pose potential environmental or
safety hazards are stored and handled according to manufacturer
recommendations and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Such materials include petroleum fuels and lubricants, and waste oil,
which will be stored separately in above - ground storage tanks and
contained storage areas.
Sanitary waste from the building will be directed to the facility septic
system. General construction and dimensional information for the
office /bathhouse /warehouse building is provided on Table 2.05.3 -2.
2.05.3 -13 Revised 12/04/09, TR -01
