J. J. Dudash - 11 - June 1, 2010
BRL - Text was revised to explain Terror Creek Reservoir is formed by the Bruce Park Dam.
54. Please explain why the creek in Steven's Gulch is not included along with Hubbard Creek
and Terror Creek in the discussions on revised pages 2.05-136 and 2.05-142.
BRL - The creek in Stevens Gulch was added to the discussion on pages 2.05-136 & 142.
55. Discussion of the Bruce Park landslide begins at the top of page 2.05-137. While the
feature is analyzed in detail in the referenced Yeh study, the location of the landslide is not
apparent on Map 06 - Geological Hazards. Please modify Map 06 to indicate the location of
the Bruce Park landslide feature.
BRL - The Bruce Park landslide feature was noted on Map 06 as an unstable slope.
56. The third paragraph on page 2.05-137 describes the Hubbard Creek road. Please update
the text to incorporate the new Hubbard Creek Fansite.
BRL - The Operator's Hubbard Creek fansite was added to the inventory of structures on page
2.05-132. The third paragraph on page 2.05-138 directs the reader to section 2.05.3(3)(a) for a
description of the Operator's structures.
57. On revised page 2.05-137, BRL states that the Stevens Gulch road will be subsided and
that the road is protected where severe damage would occur by limited extraction. The
Division does not agree that Stevens Gulch road is protected by limited extraction areas
from activities as proposed under PR-12. Permit text on page 2.05-141 accurately describes
the subsidence consequences and mitigation for the Stevens Gulch road. Please correct
the permit text on page 2.05-137.
BRL - The permit text on page 2.05-137 was corrected.
58. The 3rd paragraph on page 2.05-140 refers to the potential impact to the Bruce Park
landslide of mine-induced seismic activity. Please consider modifying this paragraph to
include a reference to the Yeh 2006 study.
BRL- The Yeh 2006 study was referenced as suggested.
59. Please add permit text discussion at the bottom of page 2.05-142 regarding the subsidence
consequences and mitigation to any loss of surface water flow in Stevens Gulch.
BRL - The creek in Stevens gulch was added to the last paragraph on page 2.05-142.
60. The second paragraph on page 2.05-143 seems to be internally contradictory; "The
sandstone ledge that forms Dove Cave could collapse. However the sandstone ledge will
not be damaged since it is not within the area to be affected by mining." (Emphasis added)
Please verify that the text reads as it is intended to read, or change as appropriate.
BRL - The text was amended.
61. The 3rd paragraph on page 2.05-151 refers to a limited extraction zone that has been
established where the 1 West Mains cross under Terror Creek and the WAPA transmission
line. The following paragraph reiterates the WAPA zone. Maps 14-B and 27 do not appear
