The settling ponds shown on the original mining plan were used by a previous
operator. These ponds are not used and will be backfilled in the near future.
The water management plan has been to retain all stormwater on site. The drainage
generally runs from west to east. The mining face is always maintained to the east
to capture any runoff that might occur in the mining areas. Any water collected
quickly dissipates into the porous surface.
#6. Man Made Structures to be Removed:
All equipment is portable and will be removed upon completion of mining.
#7. Description of Earthmoving and Regrading:
The mining process is basically the lowering of the property by 8' - 10'. The
topsoil is striped and the areas are graded as the material is mined. There is
minimal grading after mining, leaving only the placement of growing medium and
seeding.
#8. Reservoir Questions:
The current mining plan does not incorporate any reservoir work. The original plan
of reclamation to grassland has not changed. The city of Arvada may construct
reservoirs in this area someday in the future, but that is not a consideration of the
mining plan at this time.
#9. Placement of Topsoil and Revegitation:
The placement of growing medium and grassland seeding will be done according to
the original mining plan.
#10. Plans for Post-Closure Monitoring:
The reclamation requirements will be monitored and fulfilled until such time the
Division releases the reclamation bond.
We have attempted to address each question asked in the inspection report. The original
mining plan has not been changed other than the order of areas being mined is somewhat
different. That, however, has been the case since the beginning in 1986. The areas
remaining to be mined is limited. The reclamation will proceed efficiently as the mining
is completed and stockpiles are removed.
Additionally, a revised annual report map is enclosed.
Please advise if additional information or clarification is needed.
Sincerely,
r
Joe aig
President
