III. COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE <br /> Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br /> inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br /> evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br /> This was a complete inspection conducted by Janet Binns of Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and <br /> Safety. The inspection was initiated at the mine office in Florence to check records. Mr. George Patterson <br /> provided access to the records. The weather was dry and extremely windy. <br /> Records: Records were verified in the mine office in Florence. Records were complete and availability of <br /> records form accompanies this report. <br /> Roads: The access road and haul road to the refuse disposal area had recently been regraded. The grader <br /> remains on site. Water bars had been cut diagonally across the road to help direct runoff off the roadway. The <br /> Access roads are well maintained. <br /> Hvdrolosrric Balance: Both ponds, Pond 5 and Pond 4 (Refuse disposal area pond)were dry, with the slopes <br /> and bottom well vegetated. No rilling or animal burrowing was observed on either pond. The discharge <br /> structures appeared to be in good repair. Load out ponds were both dry. <br /> Reveeetation: Reclaimed area vegetation is actively growing and looking healthy. There was no sign of <br /> noxious weeds becoming established on the reclaimed areas. Gullies were not apparent on the reclaimed <br /> slopes. The reclaimed areas of the mine were in good condition. Vegetative diversity appears to be good. <br /> Revegetated north slope of RDA......................................................................reclaimed facilities area, RDA in background <br /> Support Facilities: No new activity had occurred on the load out site. Load out is well vegetated, Sediment <br /> ponds at the load out were both dry. No problems were noted at the load out site. <br /> Processing Waste: The refuse disposal area(RDA) is well vegetated with no signs of noxious weed patches. <br /> Drainage around RDA is good with no pooled locations or ditch breeches.
