6.4.4 Exhibit D -Mining Plan
10. Mining in the newly expanded area will be conducted over a five (5) year period.
11. The approximate area and location, together with the year of extraction and reclamation are
shown on the mining and reclamation maps.
12. An alluvial deposit of rock sand and silt deposited by the Conejos River will be mined to a
depth of approximately 30 feet maximum. The deposit extends to a depth of at least 40 feet. A
thin layer of topsoil (less than 6 inches deep) will be removed and stockpiled as protected by
seeding and mulching with lbs pure live seed (NRCS)reclamation mix and straw.
13. The primary material to be produced is crushed gravel for road construction, site preparation
and aggregate for concrete. The secondary material is crusher rejects which are used for supply
to CDOT for sanding Cumbres and La Veta Passes.
14. Topsoil may be stockpiled for more than one season and will be seeded and mulched as
described in response to item 12 above.
Exhibit E- Reclamation Plan
15. Reclamation for the remainder of the existing pit will begin this year (2010) and end in
2011.Reclamation for the pit addition will begin in 201 land end in 2015. The area in the existing
pit which will not be used for stockpiles will be reclaimed by first distributing previously
stockpiled topsoil together with crusher fines over the area to a depth of 4 to 6 inches and then
seeding and mulching according to the NRCS recommendations provided herein. Finally the area
will be irrigated as necessary with water from well that has an augmentation certificate from the
Conejos Conservancy District allowing said use. Each area in the pit addition will be reclaimed
in a similar fashion over a five year period from 2011 to 2015. All reclamation operations will be
accomplished with machinery and automatic irrigation equipment. No hand labor is anticipated
in any phase of reclamation.
16. Areas and of the original pit have been graded to their final configuration.
17. The post mining use of this property is intended to be a residential subdivision of
approximately 20 single family dwelling lots. The area to the east, west, and north is currently
populated with typical vacation ( and some permanent ) residences.
